Brief description of how you came to own this car and little history on it :

Way back in the early 70’s my Dad was a successful trophy racer at Lawerence Dragway. He had a bad weekend, hurt the car and blew his 6- cyl. race engine. He began gathering parts for a new race engine, lost interest, and let everything just sit. When I was around 15 I rediscovered the “stash” of way cool parts including a 225 mid 60’s truck block and head, stock rods and crank turned 20/20, hemi valves with double valve springs. .060 over 13 to 1 pistons, the biggest cam Clifford made,3/8ths push rods, high volume oil pump, 4 barrel intake, headers and chrome parts.

We talked it over a while and a father-son project was born. I bought a ‘64 Barracuda from Don Griffiths and we started work--until my mother heard about it. End of project!

Now 30 yrs. later, Dad moved to Florida and left the 6cyl. with me, I have done quite a bit of work on it but I’d really like someone else to finish it! (Check out the time line on next page.) It’s now a ‘64 Valiant 2 door sedan I found in Wichita (From a gentleman who has a ‘64 Barracuda with some very familiar dents!) The Valiant was supposed to be a replacement for our Pro-Street pick-up after it found a new home. Then came along a Dakota project too good to pass up.

So far on the Valiant, the sub-frame has been connected, new floor pans installed, this coming winter I will change the suspension and brakes (or you can!). The body work is almost done, gas tank has a sump and large fittings, it has electronic ignition w/ orange box, solid state regulator and alternator ‘74 Duster radiator, 904 tranny in place, standard transmission parts still with the car. I have made lots of small mods too numerous to mention.
